A seminarian, not a self-promoter.
James Talarico holds a Master of Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, which he earned while serving in the Texas House. For him, faith isn't a talking point — it's something he studied seriously and still lives out every week at his home church in Austin.
He was a teacher first.
Before he was a legislator, James stood in front of a sixth-grade classroom. He saw what happens to a child when the safety net is cut — when a kid who's finally turning a corner loses the one counselor holding him together. That is why he fights for public schools and for the children sitting in them.
Service, not power.
James didn't run for office to be served, but to serve. He taught school, he studied his faith seriously, and he's built a record around showing up for ordinary people. Plenty of politicians say they serve; but far fewer can point to the years that prove it.
Integrity over corruption.
James calls this race what it is — a spiritual battle between selfishness and service, between greed and greatness. He's running against a system that rewards the powerful and forgets the poor, the worker, the family barely making it. Scripture calls us to care for the least of these, and James has built his work around it.

At a time when Texas needs leaders of real conviction, we thank You for raising him up — a man who carries the Gospel into the public square, who fights for working families, and who leads with the kind of servant-hearted strength the world rarely sees. We pray that you'll guard his body, mind, and spirit. And let every Texan who watches him lead see clearly the character of a man who follows You. In Your Name, Amen.
